I waited to write this review because I wanted to be sure of a couple of things. First I wanted to see if the wife would actually continue to use it. Oh yeah, she loves this thing and uses it daily. So that's a good endorsement right there as my lovely wife has a short attention span and wouldn't use this if it wasn't actually keeping her feet warm.
The other thing was that I wanted to make sure that it was durable and wasn't going to fall apart. I am happy to report that it continues to hold up well and, after several months, looks and functions as good as the day it arrived. So it does appear to be durable and safe.
We like that it is very flexible, although that seemed odd at first. When summer comes and we don't need it hanging out in the living room we can just roll it up and put it on a shelf or behind the couch or whatever. So it's not at all unnecessary clutter.
Although not advised, instead of wear socks, a blanket from an old electric foot warmer was placed on the bottom pad. This lowers the possibility of trap sweat or order occurring due to wearing socks
Pro:
- The include blanket in the hood definitely help to trap the heat
- The heated bottom pad is permanently connected, which prevent slipping out of the heat zone
- Fast start up heating
- Hood supported with a bendable rod
Con:
- Temperature in degree F/C not provided, just a power level
- Bottom pad can get extremely hot on bare foot, always wear socks to prevent this
- Magnetic latch is pretty weak
- The rod for the hood was shipped bend it half, it requires manually unbending
As soon as I opened it and put it together, my honest first impression was that it was going to be gimmicky as heck, and it would likely end up in the donation pile. First, it's huge. Like, full on under the desk space-hog. Then, the material under my actual feet is super thin, not attached to the sides of the dome-like structure, and didn't look like any heating pad I've ever seen. It's just a flat pad with no cushioning. I had zero expectation that this was going to be anything other than an abnormally huge foot heating pad.
But.... OMG!
It's a mini-furnace! It is insane how much heat it puts out evenly all over your lower body. And it's not that overly-hot-heating-pad-on-high-setting heat, where it feels good at first then starts to burn the areas it touches. It's just an amazing, even, full lower-body heat that feels AMAZING.. and it lasts! It doesn't just heat up the contact points, it heats everything inside the dome. I didn't want to get out of it!
The only drawback is that I now have to permanently store this strange looking thing under my desk all day. But who cares? It's freaking amazing and I can't wait for winter now!
Whatever genius created this thing, I love you! Thank you! This sounds over the top but really, this life-changing for people with poor circulation. I would rate this 10-stars if I could.
